Sheriff's deputies fire at suspected restaurant robbers

Shelby County Sheriff's Department investigators are searching for two suspects wanted for possibly shooting at deputies after robbing a fast food restaurant.

Officials said around 8:30pm Tuesday, a woman flagged down Sheriff's deputies near a Subway restaurant at Elvis Presley and Kerr.  The woman told the two deputies about the alleged robbery, offering a description of the suspect's car.

According to Shelby County Sheriff's Department spokesperson Steve Shular, after spotting the car and pulling it over, both deputies exited their patrol car and approached the suspects' vehicle.  When one of the suspects pointed a gun out the passenger-side window, the deputies then fired at the suspects.

The suspects fled.  The getaway car was found later Tuesday night, but the suspects were no longer in it.  An investigation at the scene led to the development of two suspects found hiding at a hotel in south Memphis.

The deputies were not injured.
