Trooper placed on leave after complaint involving porn star

Associated Press - May 21, 2007 2:15 PM ET

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A state trooper has been placed on paid administrative leave after the Safety Department received an internal complaint.

A news release from the department states Trooper James Randy Moss was placed on leave Friday.

THP spokesman Mike Browning says the event that led to the complaint occurred in Wilson County, east of Nashville.

Browning declined to elaborate about the accusation against Moss, citing the ongoing investigation.

Moss has been with the Highway Patrol since 1997. Browning said he was not aware of any prior discipline taken against Moss.

Television stations in Nashville and Knoxville cite unidentified sources in reporting that Moss is being investigated over whether he let an adult movie actress out of a possible drug arrest in return for a sexual favor.

The news organizations said the woman has written about such an encounter on an Internet blog under her screen name.

Browning declined to confirm that was the reason for the investigation.
