Tigers Beat Rice, Then Get Eliminated

The Memphis Tigers can leave the CUSA tournament with their heads held high. 3 wins, including a dramatic one over 2nd Rice prove they're a quality team.  Rice came in winners of 20 straight but it was Memphis who had a 2-1 lead in the 8th after home runs by Bill Moss and Adam Amar.

Rice loades the bases in 8th... Matt Yokley on in relief of starter Will Hudgens and he got out of it with a ground ball to short.  In the 9th Yokley ends it with a called 3rd strike. Memphis wins 2-1 forcing a second game against Rice.

That one did not go as well. Rice wins 20-9, eliminating the Tigers in the CUSA semi-finals. Bill Moss hit his league leading 14th home run. But it was not nearly enough. Rice will play East Carolina for the CUSA title Sunday.

The Tigers finish 36-25 with a solid chance of making the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1994.
