Memphis firefighter injured while battling early morning blaze

A Memphis firefighter was injured Monday morning while battling a blaze in a vacant building.

The fire broke out in a one story structure located in the 1700 block of Nelson Avenue just after 5:30 a.m. Monday.

Authorities said Lt. Cedric Pryor, a 17-year veteran of the Memphis Fire Department, sustained a back injury from a fall when an interior stairway inside the structure collapsed.  Pryor was transported to The MED in stable condition.

Investigators are still trying to determine what started the fire.
