Juvenile charged in shooting of pregnant Memphis woman

Memphis Police have charged a juvenile in the shooting of a pregnant Memphis woman.

The juvenile, a 16-year-old male that has not been identified, was charged with aggravated assault and felony reckless endangerment in the shooting of Laquita Higgins.

Police found Higgins shot Tuesday night while responding to reports of gunshots inside the Cambridge Court Apartments in the 3300 block of West Winchester Place.

Witnesses say a group of people were seen arguing before the shooting.

Higgins, who was two months pregnant, lost the fetus as a result of gunshot wounds to the stomach.

She remains in critical condition at The MED.
