Huckabee acknowledges "absolute error" in getting Reagan dates wrong

LITTLE ROCK (AP) - Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee says he made an "absolute error" when he confused the dates of President Reagan's birth and death during a debate among the ten Republican presidential hopefuls last night.

Huckabee, while answering a question about his confidence in the Iraqi government, was the first candidate to mention Reagan during the debate in Manchester, New Hampshire. He told the crowd it was Reagan's birthday. Instead, it was the third anniversary of the former president's death.

Reagan was born February 6th, 1911.

Huckabee told reporters on a conference call today he realized the error immediately after the debate, but he didn't expect the mistake to harm his presidential campaign. He says voters don't expect a person running for president to be "100 percent perfect."
