Mississippi at bottom of energy efficiency scorecard

MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Vermont ranks at the top in the country in energy efficiency, according to a national report released Tuesday.

Vermont tied with California and Connecticut in eight energy efficiency categories in a national efficiency scorecard for 2006.

Mississippi, Wyoming and North Dakota were at the bottom of the list.

The report from the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy says the top 10 states with the strongest and most diverse efficiency policies offered residents reduced risk of price increases; lower energy bills; reduced risk of blackouts; and lower greenhouse gas emissions.
