MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - A Memphis man accused of focusing on Hispanic victims has been convicted of armed robbery and awaits trial on a murder charge.
Andre Henderson, 23, was convicted Wednesday of especially aggravated robbery. The robbery victim, Gildardo Diaz, was shot in the back in September while leaving his apartment to go to work.
Henderson faces up to 40 years in prison with no chance of parole when sentenced next month.
He is awaiting trial on a first-degree charge in the death of Santiago Gomez, who was shot to death during a robbery in Memphis in 2005. Henderson is also a suspect in a string of other armed robberies of Hispanic immigrants.
