The tragic events of this past weekend have touched me deeply. I happened to be on Keith Urbans' website when someone posted a "prayers for fans" notation. I was curious and read this posting only to find out about this horrific accident that has devastated so many. I am from Toronto, Ontario Canada and we do not always hear everything coming out of the United States. Apparently, one of the victims had planned on going to Keith Urbans' upcoming concert and due to this tragedy, she will not be attending, and therefore it was mentioned in the hopes that all those who were visiting Keiths' website would stop for a moment and say a prayer for all involved.
My prayers go out to the whole community at this time of great mourning. From Canada, please accept my condolences and heartfelt sympathy.

To all the family members that was in the tragic car crash my heart hurts for each and everyone invouled. To Darla my love and god's love is with you.
The events of last Saturday evening in Selmer are a tragedy in the truest sense of the word; this has been a terrible loss of young lives. I agree that someone should be held responsible for this tragedy, however, I hope that you'll keep in mind as you grieve for your loved ones that the driver was only doing the job he was hired to do, he didn't plan this exhibition, he merely participated in something that has been going on incident free for 18 years. Having said this, I also hope that the children who benefit from the Cars for Kids charity won't be held responsible, either. Please remember that your loved ones who perished weren't there in protest of this event, they were there to enjoy it. I hope that in time you will be able to realize that punishing the children who benefit from these exhibitions, as well as the people who enjoy them, won't change the course of past events. My prayers and condolences to each of you...
My heart goes out to everyone involved in this tragedy. I am from Columbus, MS and this is the first event I have attended in Selmer. My father had entered one of his antique trucks in the event and really enjoyed how the day was going, it was such a hot day so I decided it was time to get back home. I left about 3:30pm just in time, because the police was sitting in the interesection waiting to block off the highway. I got a call from my uncle who lives in selmer and that operates a business saying everyone was ok. I asked what he meant by that and he told me of the horrible accident. He tried to help one of the young girls who had died and he is just devasted by this. I will continue to pray for each and everyone of you.

To All Who Are Grieving:
Having moved to Selmer just a few years ago, I don't know but a handful of people here. What I do know is everyone I have met has been very friendly and sincere in this beautiful little town. Though I did not have the chance to meet your loved one, I am certain they were very much a part of that beauty, and they will be sorely missed by all.
As I placed flowers at the accident site, I shared your tears and my heart still feels your pain even today. Just as I took quiet pause for Brook Pope this afternoon, so will I tomorrow for each of your loved ones and for those to follow in the coming days. May you draw strength from treasured memories and the love you shared with your loved one. They will never be forgotten, not even among strangers. I, for one, will always remember, and I'm sure the community will also remember the day that beauty was lost.
God bless the Souls and those they left behind. Peace be within you until you meet again.
With deepest sympathy,
I just wanted to let everyone know that me and my whole family are praying for those who lost loved ones or had a loved one hurt. I think it was very careless of the city to let a drag car out on the street, and for whatever reason they done this alot of us lost our children. You are all in my prayers and i hope the rest of the injured survivors make it out of this ok. This is a very saddening event that happened on fathers day weekend, and i wouldnt wish this kind of pain on my worst enemy. I wanted to let you all know that you are in my prayers and i hope everyone makes it through this event. May god be with you all. God Bless.
To All The Families & Friends,
I would like to take a few minutes and remeber your families and friends today, as some of you prepare to have your loved ones funerals, I was at the tragic event about 150 feet from where it all took place, Im still not in my right mind and not sure I ever will be, but my heart and prayers will go out to each and everyone of you that Past, and were injured as well as your families. This was a very tragic accident and even though I have no personal attatchments to anyone that was lost or injured, I feel the need to send my sympathy, prayers and love.

Our family is deeply saddened by this tradgedy. We are a drag racing family and realize the danger involved to the driver and spectators.
May something positive come out of this tradgedy.Any drag car should be in a sanctioned event with all the safety measures that a drag strip has to offer. We also need to send our prayers to the driver of this car, because I am sure he is deeply hurt by this. Everyone will be in our prayers.

I have been deeply affected by what happened in Selmer over the weekend. Innocent lives have been lost and that is always a tragedy. I want the families of those killed and injured to know that so many people are praying for them and my thoughts and prayers go out to them. They will eventually get through this, but I'm sure it will take some time to heal completely. Really, I don't know if you can ever completely heal from something as awful as this. I am a new mother this year. I have a baby boy at home and I can't image what would happen if I ever lost him, so I know it has to be very difficult. We also have to remember what the driver of the car must be going through emotionally. I am sure it was just an accident, an awful accident that could not be prevented. I do believe that everything in this life happens for a reason.
Even though we don't like to think this, God lets tragedies like this happen for a reason. Everything that happens, good and bad, is part of his plan, his will. Those that were killed are in a much better place now. They are in a place where there are no wars, violence, anger, abuse, pain or suffering. We have to remember that and keep them in our memory. God Bless.
Being a drag racer myself, I am saddened by the loss of life on Saturday June 16, 2007 in Selmer, Tennessee. This is a testament to why drag strips where created in the first place. To get these cars off of the street and on to the controlled environment that people like me have grown to love. My condolences go out to the families of those effected by this tragedy. We can only hope that a tragedy of this magnitude can be prevented in the future.
