Memphis police are investigating a shooting that sent an innocent bystander to the hospital with a bullet lodged in her chin.
There's no word on how long the 13-year-old girl will have to stay at LeBonheur now that doctors have discovered the bullet is lodged in her chin.
Her grandfather says his family is taking a stand to Take Back their Neighborhood.
Jerry Boyland says he was watering his lawn on Dorado Thursday night with his granddaughter nearby.
He heard shots and told her to get back. But it was too late. She told him her neck was bleeding.
He called 911 and an ambulance rushed the teen to LeBonheur.
At first, doctors believed the bullet grazed her neck. Her family says they later learned the bullet was lodged and that doctors are now worried about removing it.
That might cause too much nerve damage.
Boyland says after last night's shooting his wife wants to move away from the neighborhood.
Witnesses say they saw the person who shot the girl and they've shared that information with police.
Police say no on is in custody.
