CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - Four Tennessee cities will share three (M) million dollars in state funding to make improvements to their zoos.
Memphis, Nashville and Knoxville will each receive 750-thousand dollars approved by the recent General Assembly for improvements to animal attractions.
Chattanooga will use 525-thousand dollars for its zoo, and the rest will go toward its Tennessee Aquarium exhibit.
State Senator Ward Crutchfield has been a fan of the Chattanooga zoo for years and has done some fundraising on his own.
But the Democrat said he realized for the zoo to get the money it needed for its long-term plans the state needed to help.
