At Hispanic forum, Clinton criticizes Thompson's Cuba remark

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) - Hillary Rodham Clinton today criticized Fred Thompson for suggesting illegal Cuban immigrants pose a terrorist threat.

The Democratic presidential candidate was speaking at a National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials at Walt Disney World.

Thompson, who likely will announce his presidential campaign soon, was criticizing a Senate immigration bill, contending it would make the country more vulnerable.

The actor and former Tennessee senator said of the thousand Cubans the U-S apprehended in 2005 -- quote -- "I don't imagine they're coming here to bring greetings from Catro.

We're living in the era of the suitcase bomb." Clinton says she was appaled that Thompson had talked about Cuban refugees as potential terrorists.

She says his comments suggest he doesn't know much about Cuban-Americans.
