Car slips off hydraulic jack and kills Southaven man in his driveway

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (AP) - A Southaven man was killed after a car he was working on slipped off a hydraulic jack and fell on him.

DeSoto County Coroner Jeffery Pounders said 40-year-old Hartley Westbrook was found dead Thursday by family members in the driveway of his home around 2:30 pm.

Pounders says Westbrook had the right front tire of his car up on a hydraulic jack and he was working, lying on his back under the car.

Pounders says that's when it apparently slipped off the jack and fell onto him.

He says Westbrook was pronounced dead at the scene.
