MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Police have charged a 32-year-old man with murder in a shooting that erupted during a fight over Fourth of July fireworks.
One man was killed and five other people were wounded at a Memphis apartment complex when the fight broke out after a youngster threw a firecracker at another child, police said.
Police said an investigation led to the arrest Friday of Terrance Lewis, who was charged with second-degree murder and attempted murder.
Terrance Harris, 29, was fatally wounded by the gunfire Wednesday night and died at a Memphis hospital.
A 77-year-old woman and 43-year-old woman also were shot and seriously wounded. Injured, too, were a 10-year-old boy, a 15-year-old girl and a 28-year-old woman. All are recovering from their wounds.
