State issues Amber Alert for 3 missing kids

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Police say a woman who allegedly abducted four children from their grandmother's rural Marion County home was arrested today (Sunday) in Tennessee.

The children were not harmed. Brittany Alvarez grabbed the kids yesterday (Saturday) afternoon.

An Amber Alert was issued today (Sunday) before the children were found. Alvarez is believed to have taken the children from the Hopewell Road home in rural Marion County about 5 p-m yesterday.

That's according to Warren Strain, a spokesman for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.

The children were identified as 6-year-old Jacob Alvarez, 4-year-old Jasmine Alvarez, 3-year-old Joseph Alvarez and 2-month-old Natalie Alvarez.

The children and the woman who police say abducted them share the same last name, and she is believed to be the children's mother.

Additional details were not available. An investigator at the Marion County Sheriff's Department did not immediately respond to a message left by The Associated Press.
