Fmr. minister accused of sexual misconduct faces judge

A former Mid-South minister accused of sexual misconduct faced a judge Monday.

Shelby County Sheriff's officials said since the story broke on Friday, they've received several calls from the public about Steven Haney.

Some of the people said they have information about Haney. Some, investigators said are possible victims.

Haney could face more charges as deputies expand their investigation.

Haney made his first court appearance Monday morning. He's charged with sexual battery by an authority figure.

Haney served as pastor of Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Cordova for 20-years. He resigned last year.

Investigators said Haney molested a teenage boy who is now 21-years-old. Haney is out of jail on $25,000 bond.

Investigators say they're getting new information about Haney, including information about more victims.

He's due back in court July 24th.
