Woods, Roberts, Atkins Out of Memphis but Still in Pro Hoops

A pair of basketball players with Memphis Ties will be hooping overseas this Winter.

Former Carver High star Qyntel Woods has signed to play in Greece with Panathinaikos.

Woods was a Lottery Pick in the 2002 Draft by Portland, but averaged less than 5-points a game in his first 2-seasons..

Woods became a Starter with the Knicks in 2005, but a guilty plea to dog fighting got him waived out of the League.

Fomer Memphis Grizzlies Forward Lawrence Roberts joins Woods in Greece with Panathinaikos.

The 6'9, 240-pound former Mississippi State star averaged about 5-points and 5 rebounds in his second year with the Grizz, but injuries forced him to miss most of the last half of the season.

Roberts was the second to the last player picked in the 2005 Draft.

The Grizzlies traded a 2008 second round pick with Seattle to get him.

And former Grizzlies point Guard Chucky Atkins isn't going across the water..

He's getting a good payday with the Denver Nuggets..

Denver reportedly signs Chucky to a 2-year deal that'll pay him $3.2 Million Dollars this season, and $3.4 Million in 2008-'09.

The team has an option for a third season.

Atkins, an 8-year veteran, is coming off his best season as a pro at more than 13-points, 4.6 assists and .38% from 3-point range..

Get this, with Chucky's signing, the Nuggets already have almost $80-million dollars in committed salary for just 13-players, 2 under the limit...

That includes guys like Allen Iverson and Carmelo Anthony..

That means Denver will pay about $11-Million Dollars in luxury tax if the current roster stands.
