Former Redbird Killed by Line Drive Coaching Baseball Game

In a tragic event Sunday night in Little Rock, former Memphis Redbird Mike Coolbaugh was killed when he was hit by a foul ball in the coaching box at first base.

Coolbaugh, who was working as a coach for the Tulsa Drillers in a Texas League game.

He was hit in the head by a line drive.

CPR was performed at the field..but he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Coolbaugh played in Memphis in 2002, and hit 29 home runs in 116 games.

He also played in 5-games for the parent St. Louis Cardinals.

The 35-year old Coolbaugh is survived by a wife and 2-sons, with a third on the way.
