HONOLULU (AP) - A life-sized Elvis Presley statue was unveiled Thursday in Honolulu at the site of his legendary 1973 "Aloha from Hawaii" concert.
He looks much as he did 34 years ago --- his hair is slicked back, vest plastered on, microphone tilted toward his lips and flared pants draped to the floor.
The concert was the first to be broadcast via satellite, reaching more than a billion viewers. As the statue was revealed for the first time, the speakers played "See See Rider" followed by "American Trilogy."
Presley filmed three movies in Hawaii, "Blue Hawaii," "Girls! Girls! Girls!" and "Paradise, Hawaiian Style." He also visited the islands three times for concerts.
