FRANKLIN, Tenn. (AP) - A woman is suing Franklin police in the death of her son last year.
According to the suit, 44-year-old William Ridley was accused of stealing a $5 pack of Swisher Sweets Cigarillos from a gas station.
Police broke down his door and pinned his head against an armchair.
He died shortly afterward.
A medical examiner ruled that Ridley had cocaine in his system and died accidentally of "acute cocaine toxicity." But his mother thinks there might be more to it.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation looked into the incident but did not make its findings public.
The mother's attorney said the she hopes the lawsuit will bring her answers.
