For the first time in over two decades, a new sheriff is elected in DeSoto County

For the first time in more than two decades, there will be a new sheriff in DeSoto County.

Republican incumbent James Riley conceded defeat late Tuesday night.

Riley was defeated by Bill Rasco, a man who once served as Riley's campaign manager.

Rasco's win in DeSoto County's Republican primary assures him the position as DeSoto County Sheriff, because there is no democratic candidate for the position in the county.
