Barricade situation causes rude awakening for Raleigh residents

Residents in a Raleigh neighborhood experienced some tense moments Friday morning after a man reportedly barricaded himself outside a home.

Just after 5:00 a.m., Memphis Police set up a command post at Egypt Central and Spring Valley to handle the matter.

Officers said the situation began as a domestic dispute overnight.  A female called police to tell them her husband had left their residence, and he was possibly armed with a weapon.

Residents living in close proximity to the house were evacuated from their homes while police dealt with the man.

He was taken into custody around 8:00 a.m. without incident. No one was injured.

Officials said the man will undergo a mental evaluation.
