The football season is almost here. The Tigers take a big step forward Saturday, going with full pads for the first time. They hit the practice field on South Campus bright and early at 6:45. It was still plenty hot though with several players losing their corn flakes. But it was all about the full contact. Head coach Tommy West said the receivers looked great but the defensive line struggled.
"I thought it was a pretty typical first day in pads with the heat. Our attention to detail wasn't very good. Wasn't horrible, but wasn't very good. That's why we practice, gotta long way to go. Can't waste any days."
The Tigers will get Sunday off with two-a-day practices beginning next week.
