Memphis was well represented this weekend at the PGA championship. Both John Daly and Shaun Micheel made the cut in the 4th and final major of the year. After an opening round 67, Daly fell off with 3 straight 73's. He finished tied for 32nd at 6 over par. Micheel posts a final round 72 today to tie with Daly and few others at 32nd.
No one could catch Tiger Woods, although reigning Memphis St. Jude champ Woody Austin sure made it interesting. Woods won the PGA Championship for his 13th major title and first this year. Woods fired a final-round 69 to win by two shots over Woody Austin. It's the fourth PGA title for Woods. His 13 major titles moves Woods within five of the all-time mark held by Jack Nicklaus. The 30-year-old Woods is ahead of the pace of Nicklaus, who didn't win his 13th major until age 35.
Woods took command of the tournament Friday with a round of 63, tying the all-time low round in a major. He spent the weekend nursing a lead that ranged from two to five strokes. Austin's 67 was good for second place, his best finish in a major. Ernie Els finished strong with a 66 to finish third. Arron Oberholser and John Senden tied for fourth.
