Heat wave claims 12th victim in Shelby County

The Shelby County Medical Examiner's Office announed the 12th death that appears to be related to the extreme heat that has blanketed the Mid-South.

The latest victim is a 74-year-old Germantown man found dead in his home at 5:00 p.m. Saturday.

According to Shelby County Medical Examiner Dr. Karen Chancellor, the victim did suffer from asthma, but excessive heat was a contributing factor in his death.
