I know what it's like to sit and wait for a football game that never happened.
I've still got the tickets that never got used the first time the Memphis Tigers were to play Arkansas State about Two Weeks ago in Jonesboro..
The Tigers really haven't played a Division 1-A game since...
Oh yeah, they were down in Orlando over the weekend for a football game...
But, like I said, they didn't play.
That 42-to-nothing first half hole they dug themselves into against UCF was twice as bad as the 20-to-nothing chasm the U of M left for itself in the first half against Ole Miss in the season opener.
Slow starts are definitely not a trend Tigers players want to continue.
The Tigers want to get off on the right foot against Arkansas State.
Tigers Quarterback Matin Hankins says:
"I do think we need to get off to a good start. Get onto the field and make something happen to get some momentum. That's especially important on the road."
Adds Running Back Joseph Doss:
"As an offense, we need to find a rhythm quicker. We can't afford to wait around and get behind like that. "
The Tigers have been much better after the half this season, outscoring opponents 35-to-10.
Nobody wants to play catch up in Jonesboro Thursday.
Kickoff is 6pm.
