Father of slain football player urges people to provide clues

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The father of a slain University of Memphis football player urged anyone with information in the shooting of his son to come forward.

"Tell the proper people what you know so they can do the investigation," Jimmy Bradford told Nashville's WTVF-TV on Wednesday.

Police were still searching for a motive and suspects in Sunday night's slaying of 21-year-old Taylor Bradford in Memphis, including whether it was related to $3,000 in cash he won at a nearby casino days earlier.

Police have not determined whether Bradford was shot randomly. University officials did not notify students of the incident for several hours, maintaining he was specifically targeted and that the suspects had fled campus.

Police have said they were checking out a report that Bradford was flush with cash after a trip to a Mississippi casino just south of Memphis, but refused to give any details.

On Tuesday night, University of Memphis players dedicated their game against Marshall University to Taylor. They won 24-21.

"It was a great victory for the city of Memphis and especially that campus," Jimmy Bradford said. "I was really impressed they showed the love for my son. Taylor was there and his presence was there."

Funeral services for Taylor Bradford, of Nashville, will be Saturday at House Of God Keith Dominion Church.
