A win and the Tigers would have clawed their way back to the .500 mark. As it stands, Memphis is facing a 2-4 record after a 21-7 loss Saturday night at the Liberty Bowl. What figured to be an offensive shootout against MTSU turned into anything but. Will Hudgens got the start after his big win against Marshall last week but was less than impressive (12/32, 130 yards passing, TD).
Two big scoring plays allowed Blue Raiders to take control of the game. In the first quarter Dwight Dasher threw a 55 yard TD pass to Marco McNair to make it 7-0 MTSU. In the 4th, it was Dasher on a quarterback draw that went for a 61 yard touchdown that sealed the deal at 21-7.
Memphis' lone touchdown came on a 17 yard pass from Hudgens to Duke Calhoun in the first quarter. Next weekend the Tigers hit the road for Rice.
