Holmes County inmate captured in Memphis

DURANT, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Department of Corrections says an inmate who escaped from a work detail earlier this week has been arrested in Memphis.

MDOC officials said James Dobbins was arrested yesterday in Memphis. He was being held today in the Shelby County jail pending his return to Mississippi.

Dobbins has been serving a 10-year sentence for an embezzlement conviction from Washington County.

He could be sentenced to a maximum five years in prison if convicted of escape. Dobbins, a state inmate assigned to the Holmes County jail, left a road crew Tuesday in Durant.

The U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force assisted in the arrest.
