Memphis Grizzlies star Forward Pau Gasol will miss the next 2-to-3 games with a sprained ankle.
The injury happened in last nights' NBA Pre-Season game at the Indiana Pacers...
Gasol was heading in for an easy layup on a runout when his left foot clicked the heel of pacers guard Danny Granger, rolling his ankle over..
You can see on the replay here how vulnerable a position Pau was in going to the basket.
He got up, tried to shake it off, and played another couple of trips up and down the floor before coming out..never to go back in.
Pau played just over 4 and a half minutes total.
The Pacers attacked the rack in his absence, building up a 28 point lead before the Grizzlies went on a Furious rally led by Rudy Gay, Kyle Lowry and Rookie Michael Conley to cut it to 5 before falling 122-115.
Conley has his best night as a pro with 11-points and 10 assists.
Gay leads the Grizz with 22 points.
"We try as a team when somebody goes down we like to pick each other up. You can see that right now during the Pre-Season..Pau goes down and we didn't give up. Most of Last year we didn't have Pau and we still fought throught it. Lots of people stepped up."
Michael Conley adds:
"Lot of guys...you don't know if they're going to hang their heads or what..blame themselves. You've got to be ready to pick everybody up."
Grizzlies Head Coach Marc Iavaroni says Gasol's ankle is in a theraputic boot and he'll miss Saturday's game against the Miami Heat at FedExForum, and could miss both pre-season games against the Houston next Tuesday and Wednesday.
He's expected to be ready for the Grizzlies Final Pre Season game against Indiana October 26th.
