The NBA Dream is on hold, at least for now, for former Ridgeway High Star Derrick Byers.
The Philadelphia 76ers waived the former Vanderbilt Star.
The 6'7" Byers was the taken in the second round as the 42nd overall pick by Portland and then traded to Philly.
His cut gets the Sixers roster down to the league maximum 15-players.
Philadelphia had a glut of youthful small Forwards, including 2006 lottery pick Rodney Carney of the University of Memphis.
Carney is battling for playing time with top pick Thaddeus Young of Mitchell High and Georgia Tech.
