Light 'em up for trick-or-treating

UNDATED (AP) - Keep 'em bright, and keep 'em short. That's the advice of safety experts as you get set to dress up your ghosts and goblins for Halloween.

Costumes should be reflective and not so long that kids can trip over them. Safety experts say parents should go out trick-or-treating with children under 12.

Police agencies say simple additions like reflective tape and flashlights can brighten things up, making little ones more visible to drivers. Motorists are urged to increase their vigilance when young pedestrians are present.

Another important tip - examine all treats before eating them for choking hazards and tampering.
