Two children drown in Henderson Co. swimming pool

LEXINGTON, Tenn. (AP) - A 4-year-old boy and his 3-year-old sister drowned in a swimming pool at a West Tennessee residence, authorities say.

Henderson County Sheriff Brian Duke said the drownings were apparently accidental but investigators are looking into why they happened.

"No charges right now. If anything is found, it could be turned over to the District Attorney," Duke said Tuesday.

Steven Kobe McDowell and Kaylee Alexus McDowell were with their mother, Lara McDowell, visiting at the residence Sunday near the community of Wildersville when they apparently fell in the pool, authorities said.

"The children were playing next to the pool. I don't know if one fell in before the other," Duke said.
