Embattled doctor faces additional charges

Dr. Bret Sokoloff was charged last Spring with sexually assaulting three nurses. Now, he is being accused again, this time of removing his towel during a session inside the Massage Envy in Collierville.

"No one in the healthcare industry should have to put up with that kind of situation," licensed massage therapist Karen Craig said Wednesday.

Action News 5 showed the police report to Craig, who owns the Massage Institute of Memphis.

"This is therapeutic massage," she said. "It's not prostitution."

According to a police report, Sokoloff removed his towel and exposed a "full erection." He then motioned with his hand for the therapist to come closer. Sokoloff is now charged with Indecent Exposure.

Action News 5 spoke with the therapist who is pressing charges against the doctor. She did not want to appear on camera, but said he ran down the hallway after the incident and begged her not to tell anyone.

"And that's why so many people have gotten away with things that should never have happened," Craig said.

Craig applauded the massage therapist for taking a stand, and hoped it would be a lesson for others.

"Anytime someone pulls the sheet off, the session is over," she said.

Neither Sokoloff and his attorney are not talking about the new charges just yet.

Massage Envy issued a statement saying the company is taking charges very seriously. Sokoloff's privileges as a customer have been revoked.
