Student arrested for disorderly conduct after being jumped at Treadwell High

Memphis Police responded to Treadwell High School in Memphis after a fight was reported Thursday afternoon.

Officers at the scene said when the dismissal bell rang, a 14-year-old girl walking away from school was jumped by about three to five other girls, across the street on Given.

When a police officer from the school came over to break up the fight, he reportedly approached the girl who was jumped.  The girl began to resist the officer, who eventually sprayed her with pepper spray.

The 14-year-old girl who got jumped was now charged with disorderly conduct.

Initial reports from the scene indicated least one shot was fired during the fight, but Memphis Police later said no shots were fired.

"Memphis City Schools is aware of the off-campus incident that occurred near one of our campuses," a Memphis City Schools spokesperson said in a statement. "Because this is an off-campus incident, we are investigating this situation further to determine if any student involved will be disciplined."
