When was the last time you remember someone running for 301 yards in a game? Not the whole team, just one person. Homecoming for the Tigers was a wild one alright. East Carolina racked up 491 yards on the ground en route to a 56-40 win Saturday at the Liberty Bowl.
Running back Chris Johnson had 301 yards alone and 4 touchdowns. He runs a 4.1 (40 yard dash) and it showed against the Tigers; blowing by everyone. Memphis quarterback Martin Hankins hit Duke Calhoun on a slant before half for 6 points, to cut the ECU's lead to 21-13 but that was as close as they'd get. The Duke had 8 catches and Hankins passed for 416 yards but it wasn't enough.
The Tigers now 4-5 on the season, play at Southern Miss next Saturday.
