Gas prices above $3/gallon in Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK (AP) - The AAA says the average price for a gallon of unleaded gas in Arkansas rose above $3, up 16 cents in just a week.

The average price today was $3.02, compared with a national average of $3.09. And experts say the rising prices may not be over.

Northwest Arkansas had the highest prices in the state, with the Fayetteville-Rogers-Springdale area averaging $3.11 a gallon, and Fort Smith averaging $3.06 per gallon.

Pine Bluff had the cheapest gas in the state, at $2.98 per gallon, followed by Texarkana at $2.99 per gallon.

The average gas price in the Little Rock metro area was $3.02. Arkansas' record gas price of $3.18 per gallon was set in May.

Experts attributed that rise in prices to refinery problems and tight supplies.
