In a year of upsets, unsurpassed parity and unlikely scenarios, wrap your mind around this one. THE MEMPHIS TIGERS COULD BE GOING BOWLING! Yes, the team that gave up 56 points to both Central Florida and East Carolina. The only thing standing in their way is a win against UAB or 1-9 SMU. Saturday's 29-26 win over Southern Miss made it official.
Quarterback Martin Hankins, a Hattiesburg native, threw for 396 yards and 4 touchdowns in a rousing last minute win over the Golden Eagles. With just a 1:04 left and the Tigers trailing 26-21, they pulled off the biggest play of the season. Hankins hit Singleton over the middle and he cut it back 52 yards for the go-ahead touchdown.
Now 5-5, the Tigers can become bowl eligible next week against UAB. With the number of bowl tie-ins CUSA has, Memphis will most certainly get a bowl invitation if they can get that 6th win.
