Man accused of killing Bolton High School teacher appears in court

A nervous and anxious looking Jeffrey Scott appeared in court for the first time in months Thursday as his attorney asked for new conditions for his bond.

Scott is charged with first degree murder in the beating death of Bolton High English teacher Ashley Scott in the couple's home on Thanksgiving Day 2006. Scott was in jail less than two weeks before a judge set his bond.  He quickly posted bond, and has lived at home under house arrest ever since.

"Not only are his bond conditions the same, but our position is also the same, that he is innocent of the charges," said Scott's attorney, Blake Ballin.

Blake Ballin filling for his father Leslie Ballin, re-iterated Scott's not guilty plea in court, asked for more time to review all the evidence against Scott.  Ballin also urged the judge to allow his client to leave home under specific conditions.

"We are asking the judge to release him from house arrest for the specific purposes of going to some medical doctor appointments," Ballin said.

The request was granted.

After the hearing, Jeffrey Scott, under the advice of his attorney, would not answer any questions.

"I am not allowed to say anything," he said. "Thank you."
