Officials investigate shooting in Southaven

One person was arrested after allegedly firing shots at state and federal agents at a residence in Southaven early Friday morning.

Lt. Mark Little of the Southaven Police Department said DEA agents and U.S. Marshals were trying to serve a warrant at a house in Southaven's Snowden Grove subdivision when they were fired upon. Agents returned fire as they were shot at.

"They were fired upon by an individual inside the residence, and the officer returned fire," he said.

Southaven Police arrested Kimberly Washington, who was charged with six counts of aggravated assault on a police officer.

Investigators refused to discuss the reason for the original search warrant, saying only that they intended to complete their original mission.

"The execution of this search warrant will continue," said Chief Kelly York of the U.S. Marshall's office.  "The items that were in the search warrant will hopefully be found and taken into custody."

Later Friday morning, two trucks removed at least two cars from the home.

The incident is still under investigation.

The Snowden Grove subdivision is located west of Getwell Road and south of Goodman Road in Southaven.
