Police plan extra patrols for Hannah Montana show

Memphis Police say a crowd control plan is in place for the crowd expected to gather at FedExForum Thursday night for the highly anticipated Hannah Montana concert.

Wednesday, a Memphis Police spokesperson said events like last year's American Idol auditions at FedExForum gave the department a lot of practice for the kinds of crowds expected to show up Thursday night.

In addition, officers assigned to the downtown entertainment district, and officers from the South Main and Union precincts will pitch in to help patrol the area around the arena.

Memphis Police spokesperson Monique Martin said officers will remind concert-goers to not leave anything valuable in their cars, and will direct people to crosswalks, not letting them cross the middle of a street.

Officers will also be on hand to try to keep lines flowing smoothly.

"We will have people there in front of the Forum to insure that those lines move in pretty quickly," Martin said. "And when the concert is over as well, that the crowd will move pretty quickly out of the building."

Martin said Hanna Montana concert-goers should show up a little early, and be prepared to be patient as they line up to enter FedExForum.
