Intact Family Ministry makes a difference for local families

Decorators measured and planned Monday until they figured out a way to make some tight quarters more spacious and comfortable for five working families in need.

Families like Marcia Harris Carter's family.

Carter and her husband have three small children. When her husband was laid off earlier this year they couldn't make ends meet. That's when the working mother found out about Intact Family Ministry.

The Christian non-profit gives families a place to stay for up to six months while they save up money to get back on their feet.

"I don't know how we could have done it," Carter said.

Soon, her family will have an even better setup at their home.

Bunk beds for the kids and a new kitchen table big enough for her family of five were donated by Ashley Furniture.

Intact Family Ministries helps married couples with or without children who are on the verge of becoming homeless.

Ashley Furniture will make the first deliveries next week.
