Students deal with tragedy following fire

Children are attempting to deal with tragedy after a tragic fire claimed the life of two students at DeSoto Central Middle School.

School administrators say the children are having a hard time dealing with it.

The kids have made a tribute wall in the gym to remember the two brothers who both played basketball at the school.

Thursday night, their teammates will be remembering them at the game. They will be wearing patches on their basketball uniforms and starting with four players instead of five in their honor.

Police are still investigating the fire that took both their lives.

"We treat it as a death investigation - reason for that's like I said, I've always been taught we only have one chance at a crime scene - once you get on a crime scene and work it, things get brought in and taken away from it - we treat 'em all the same in the first time frame when we get there," Southaven Police Department Mark Little said.

Police say the brothers lived with their grandfather. They believe the brothers were killed when they became cornered in the back of the burning house.

Right now they believe the cause of the fire may be faulty wiring, but they are still investigating.
