Tigers Inching Closer to Top of A.P. Poll

Another week, another step closer to the Top Spot for the Tigers Basketball team in the A.P. Poll.

The U of M rates Number 2 Nationally for the second week in a row, but get 19 first place votes...and come in just 62-points behind top ranked North Carolina.

Kansas, Texas and Georgetown round out the Top 5.

The Hoyas will be here December 22nd.

Other teams of Note:

Tennessee is 12th...the Vols drop 2-spots after a 6-point win at Chattanooga.

Gonzaga is 19th.. The Bulldogs will be here in February.

Vanderbilt climbs 3-spots to 23rd...

And Arizona's up a spot to 21st..

The Wildcats will be here December 29th.

The Tigers could've been ranked just as highly in scoring had not USC thrown a monkey wrench in their offense with that Triangle and Two Defense...

Memphis was averaging about 85 points a game until putting up just 62 in an overtime victory against the Trojans.

Now at 82.3, the U of M is 25th nationally in scoring.

VMI is number One at more than 97 per game...

Who's number-2?

It's the Ole Miss Rebels under second year head coach Andy Kennedy.

The Rebels are hitting it pretty at almost 92 points a game.

Ole Miss gets 10 votes in the poll, good enough for 36th place.
