Protestor claims Memphis Mayor threatened him

A Tennessee protestor claims Memphis Mayor Willie Herenton recently threatened him outside a local R&B concert.

Rico Rivers says Memphis Mayor Willie Herenton screamed at him Sunday after the R. Kelly Concert at the FedExForum.

In a mass email, Rivers said he protests outside of R. Kelly's concerts any time the R&B singer performs in Memphis.

Rivers began his protests after a video surfaced showing Kelly having sex with a 14-year-old.

After the recent concert in Memphis, Rivers held a sign that read "Some people in Memphis love to support crooked politicians, preachers, and R and B Pedophiles!"

Rivers claims Mayor Herenton read the sign and verbally attacked him, allegedly saying "I know you're not talking about me.  I'll kick your a**!"

"I was shocked that the mayor of the city would actually behave this way and threaten a citizen," Rivers said.

Mayor Herenton did not return calls for comment Wednesday.
