NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Joey Dorsey, Robert Dozier and Shawn Taggart scored 11 points apiece, as Memphis beat Middle Tennessee 65-41 on Saturday.
Dorsey also had a team-high 12 rebounds.
The Tigers outshot Middle Tennessee 49% to 26% and outrebounded the Blue Raiders 38-30.
Memphis never trailed and the game was tied only once at 16.
With the victory in the opening game of the Sun Belt Classic doubleheader, the second-ranked Tigers improved to 8-0. That matches their best start since the 1995-96 season and is their fourth such start since World War II.
Theryn Hudson, Demetrius Green and Dino Hair each scored eight points for Middle Tennessee.
