Collierville beer bust catches many violators

During a 2-day sting operation, Collierville Police employed the use of a 19-year old girl and an undercover officer to round-up businesses selling alcohol to minors.

In this case half of the restaurants they checked failed.

Out of 37 restaurants, 18 of them sold beer to a minor. These included Café Piazza and the Silver Caboose on the Collierville square. Duga's Dogs and Deli, Firebirds, Huey's, Chili's, Corky's, and several others.

Police say the servers are the first line of defense in stopping minors from getting alcohol. The servers who failed the test are charged with misdemeanors and possibly hefty fines.

Those servers and their respective restaurants also will have to go before Collierville's Beer Board to determine their punishment.
