Supreme Court will hear arguments on DeAunta Farrow case

The Arkansas Supreme Court will hear arguments that a grand jury should investigate the police shooting death of DeAunta Farrow.

12-year-old DeAunta Farrow was shot and killed earlier this year by West Memphis Police Officer Erik Sammis.

Investigators have since ruled that Sammis will not face criminal charges for the shooting.

But now, the Arkansas Supreme Court says it will hear from a judge who wants someone else to investigate the case.

The news came into the Action News 5 newsroom in a 31-page fax.

The supreme court will decide two things.

One, should there be a special grand jury.

And two, should there be a new special prosecutor assigned to the case.

The supreme court case is scheduled for January 24th.

Action News 5 will be there when the court makes its decision.
