Commissioner passes resolution in hopes to fill Pyramid

The pyramid has a look like no other. A gem on the Memphis skyline. Built with beauty and brilliance. But now it's become the worst kind of burden on taxpayers.

With all of us paying our share, county commissioner Steve Mulroy's ready to see somebody else pay the bill. Somebody like Greg Ericson.

Last week, the Ericson group unveiled these plans for a $250 million dollar theme park with rides, retail shops, and restaurants complete with hotels. More riverfront development and an expected creation of more than 3-thousand jobs taking just two years to complete.

"Our goal is to have our proof of financing to the city and the county by January 7th," Greg Ericson said.
That's why Commissioner Mulroy pushed through a resolution requesting county mayor AC Wharton to not sign any more letters of intent with Bass Pro after the current letter expires at the end of next month.

That resolution passed 8-3.

Mayor Wharton said he is awaiting more details from both Ericson and Bass Pro and will let the city take the lead to find a suitor for a dormant beauty that's ready for new life.
