TDOT launches Web site to aid commuters

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee transportation officials have launched a Web site aimed at helping people find alternative ways to get to work.

Governor Bredesen says the Smart Commute site is aimed at helping commuters as traffic congestion and fuel prices continue to increase.

The new site links to other sites, including the Music City Star commuter train, AMTRAK, various municipal transit systems and local sites designed to help people share rides.

Transportation Commissioner Gerald Nicely says providing links to existing sites will help people find services. He also invites site visitors to share other options that might not yet be listed.
